What we do

A NEW GENERATION OF ORCHESTRAL LEADERS

inspiring Europe’s diverse audiences with a fusion of the continent’s greatest musical traditions and finest new innovatory approaches.

OUR MISSION is to create a radical new orchestral academy with a pioneering combination of talented young European players and experienced world class orchestral musicians working together in an immersive programme in order to serve the cultural wellbeing of the people of Europe.

The European Orchestra Academy rests on four pillars of music making:

  • Orchestral Experience
  • Masterclasses in Budapest and Kronberg Academy
  • Chamber Orchestra without a conductor
  • Residencies: sharing the music throughout Europe

ORCHESTRA EXPERIENCE

Academists will play as active members of the Budapest Festival Orchestra for most projects and tours in the 2024–2025 season.

The EOA academists will rub shoulders with experienced colleagues and work with Iván Fischer and acclaimed soloists and guest conductors including A. Schiff, R. Ticciati, K. Gerstein, R. Capuçon, J. Hrůša, A. Orozco-Estrada to name just a few…

RESIDENCIES, SHARING THE MUSIC

We will have 5 week long residences this season in different EU member state including: Kecskemét, Bratislava, Luxembourg, Katowice and one more tbc.

Each residency will feature 30 professional outreach concerts that are completely free for the public; for children, the elderly, and other community groups that are less fortunate and not able to come to concert halls.

We strive to foster a culture of giving back to the European community and especially to those that need it most! By focusing the work in a series of European residences, this is intended as a model to be offered, in the long term, to the whole of Europe.

CONDUCTOR FREE CHAMBER ORCHESTRA

The EOA will also be an orchestra unto themselves that play without a conductor to encourage the young artists to take initiative and work together for a common goal. Being their own leaders will allow them to realise their vision and learn how to collaborate. Performances for the EOA chamber orchestra are planned internationally.

MASTER CLASSES

In Budapest, the academists will take part in masterclasses with internationally celebrated musicians: Gábor Takács-Nagy, Gerhard Schultz, Mikayel Hakhnazaryan and more!

At the Kronberg Academy they will hone their chamber music craft over two weeks through intensive workshops with Antje Weithaas and Gordan Nikolić.
