The Budapest Festival Orchestra’s online Quarantine Soirées will be back in August under the name Summer Chamber Music Soirées at the orchestra’s rehearsal room in Óbuda, now with live audiences, while also continuing with the online streaming of our concerts. With the availability of tickets limited due to the Covid situation, secure your seats as soon as possible.

If you’d like to infuse your summer vacation outside Budapest with a little live music, be sure to catch one of the several free concerts given by the BFO’s various mini formations. Our free Térzene concerts will be back, this time in Esztergom, Biatorbágy and Piliscsaba, featuring music from Schubert, Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Tchaikovsky and Bach and performed by duos and trios. Meeting its audiences face-to-face is always a special time for the orchestra, and for years, they have been doing a great deal to create opportunities for this also outside the concert room. In keeping with this tradition, they will resume their free community concerts in magnificent new venues across Hungary. Their Baroque ensemble will give a concert at the Catholic church in Vászoly, a tiny village in Balaton-felvidék region, then proceed to Kismaros and Siófok on the southern shore of Lake Balaton. They will bring their Synagogue concerts to three venues, such as the Classicist Nagykanizsa, the mystical Bonyhád, and the magnificent Mátészalka synagogues–the renovation of the latter was sponsored by no other than famous Hollywood movie star Toney Curtis.
