About the event
The European Orchestra Academy was jointly established by the Budapest Festival Orchestra and the European Union Youth Orchestra at the initiative of Iván Fischer. The young international musicians participating in the Academy gain orchestral experience with the BFO, while their chamber ensembles perform in numerous European countries.
The young musicians are prepared for their chamber music performances through masterclasses led by distinguished professors.
This masterclass will be led by Icelandic-born violinist Ari Þór Vilhjálmsson, who is currently Principal Second Violin of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Throughout his career, he has held concertmaster positions with several renowned orchestras, including the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. He is also an active chamber musician and has taught at the Sibelius Academy.
The concert lasts approximately 90 minutes, including one interval. The event is free of charge, but registration is required.
