Péter Szabó Wins Liszt Award

Péter Szabó, leader of the Festival Orchestra's violincello section has been awareded with the Ferenc Liszt Prize. The award has been handed over by Miklós Réthelyi, Minister of National Resources.
Péter Szabó was born in 1963. Already during his studies first in Cluj (Rumania), later at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest he won several national and international competitions and was awarded by the International Association of Musicologists. He has given concerts, both as a chamber musician and as a soloist, in several countries of Europe, in the USA and in the Far East. He is solo violincellist of the Budapest Festival Orchestra and the Camerata Academica of Salzburg. He has made several recordings for Naxos, EMI and Hungaroton and is member of the Takács Piano Trio.
