From the classics to the recent past

From Mozart to Shchedrin – this is the route that Gábor Takács-Nagy and the Festival Orchestra will be following at the “Haydn-Mozart plusz” concerts on 5, 6 and 7 April.
The BFO’s first guest conductor has again invited those to the ceremonial hall of the Italian Cultural Institute who love the timeless elegance of the Viennese classics but are also interested in the world of Romantic music. At the April concerts and alongside the Symphony in G major composed by Mozart in his teenage years, there will also be a French violin concerto (Godard: Concerto romantique, with soloist István Kádár) worth exploring, and an exciting 20th century but also Soviet Union suite version of Carmen (Bizet-Shchedrin: Carmen Suite) awaiting the audiences who crave for eternal values and lasting experiences. One special feature of the concerts is that the world-famous Russian composer Rodion Shchedrin will be visiting Hungary, with his wife, the equally famous Maya Plisetskaya, who as a ballet dancer used to play the leading role in Carmen.
