FROM PARIS TO WARSAW

8 concerts in 9 days in 6 cities and 5 countries – on 26 September the Festival Orchestra is setting off on a tour of Central and Western Europe. The road leads from the Salle Pleyel in Paris to the Warsaw Philharmonic, and includes Iván Fischer's composer evening in the Belgium town of Bruges.
8 concerts in 9 days in 6 cities and 5 countries – numbers are often very informative, but this time round they give at most a faint idea of the dimensions of the Festival Orchestra's Central and Western European tour. Between 26 September and 4 October the Orchestra will not only be travelling from the Salle Pleyel in Paris to the Warsaw Philharmonic, it will also give an extremely rich sample of its repertoire: alongside one symphony each from Mahler and Brahms, Bartók's Peasant Songs and his Violin Concerto No. 1 will be heard (the latter including a solo from the outstanding József Lendvay.) And last but not least: Iván Fischer's composer evening will be held in Bruges on 30 September, with soprano Nora Fischer and the Kobra Ensemble.
