First foreign tour in 2012 takes BFO to Germany, Holland and Austria

The first foreign tour of the BFO in 2012 will start on January 25th and will include six concerts in Germany, Holland and Austria, under the baton of Music Director Iván Fischer. The soloists are Renaud Capucon (violin) and Gerhard Oppitz (piano).
The tour starts on January 25th in Freiburg, followed by concerts on January 26th in Nurenberg (Meistersingerhalle), on January 28th in Heerlen (Netherlands), on January 29th in Essen (Philharmony) and on January 30th in Munich (Philharmony Gasteig). The last leg of the tour is Sankt Pölten (Festspielhaus) in Austria, on January 31st. The programmes of the concerts feature works by Johannes Brahms (Tragic Overture, Academic Overture, Symphony No.2.), as well as Rimsky Korsakow's Seherezade and two concertos: Lalo's Spanish Symphony with French violinist Renaud Capucon, and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.2. with German pianist Gerhard Oppitz. Once back again in Budapest, the BFO will record in the Palace of Arts for the Channel Classics label between February 5th and 7th the three Brahms works performed on the tour.
