We regret to inform you that Daniil Trifonov, the soloist of our concerts on May 15-16-17, has cancelled his performances in Budapest for health reasons.

In order for you to enjoy the quality you expect from the BFO, we also had to change the program: in the first part of the concert, we will perform Joseph Haydn's Violin Concerto No. 1 in C major with Ukrainian violinist Diana Tishchenko.

"Although we are saddened to learn that Daniil Trifonov has been forced to cancel his concerts in Budapest due to severe pain in his elbow, this situation also provides an opportunity to do something for Ukrainian musicians, albeit symbolically. That is why we are now presenting a wonderfully talented young Ukrainian violinist, Diana Tishchenko, who will perform Haydn's Violin Concerto in C major with the Budapest Festival Orchestra. Diana represents all the Ukrainian musicians to whom we would like to express our sympathies and send our best wishes with the hope that they will not be harmed and will soon be able to focus solely on music again. In addition, I hope that the audience of the Budapest Festival Orchestra will grow to love this brilliant young talent,” said Iván Fischer, the Music Director of the BFO.

After studying in Kyiv, the 32-year-old violinist started playing in the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra at the age of eighteen, where she became a concertmaster only two years later, working together with conductors like Colin Davis, Herbert Blomstedt, Antonio Pappano and Daniele Gatti. She completed her higher education in Berlin and Graz, and among her masters, besides Steven Isserlis and Saschko Gawriloff, we also find Hungarians: she was greatly influenced by Ferenc Rados, Rita Wagner and András Schiff. In 2018, Diana Tishchenko won the Long-Thibaud-Crespin International Music Competition.

The program for the second part of our concert remains unchanged.
