Soloist change

We regret to inform you that Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov has decided to participate in fewer international concerts in the 2018–19 season, and among other engagements has cancelled his concerts with the Budapest Festival Orchestra.

For the time being, the pianist intends to spend more time composing music and studying; we nonetheless hope to have another opportunity to work with him in the near future. Our concerts in January will thus feature internationally acclaimed French pianist Bertrand Chamayou, playing Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major. Chamayou had earlier recorded a double album of Ravel’s complete works for solo piano, characterised by the British Gramophone magazine as “revelatory performances of breathtaking beauty”.
