On the evening of 26 December, a special concert will be held at the Budapest Congress Centre: a request concert. This is because an orchestra, which has since become one of the finest symphonic ensembles in the world, gave its first concert at Christmas time in 1983 at the Academy of Music on the very same day.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the Budapest Festival Orchestra founded by Iván Fischer and Zoltán Kocsis will only prepare sheets of music instead of a fixed programme for the anniversary concert at the Budapest Congress Centre, and let the audience vote for the programme.
