THE BFO’S PREMIERE CONCERT IN 1983

Founded in 1983 by Iván Fischer and Zoltán Kocsis, the Budapest Festival Orchestra has established itself as one of the ten leading orchestras of the world. The orchestra gave its first concert in the Academy of Music on 26 December 1983.
Programme: Ruslan and Lyudmila by Glinka – overture Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto No. 3  (Zoltán Kocsis) Mozart: Symphony in G minor, K.550 Encore: Brahms: Hungarian Dances Mahler:  Symphony No. 5,  Adagietto Johann Strauss: Polka (Pleasure Train)  

The 1983 concert will be broadcast tonight from 0.05am on M1.
