Attila Sztán

Attila Sztán was born in 1991 in Gyula and started learning music at the age of 9. Having graduated from the Béla Bartók Conservatory in Békéscsaba, he was admitted to the Liszt Academy in 2010 where his teachers were Csaba Szűcs and Dr. Gusztáv Hőna. He won the National Conservatory Trombone Competition in 2009, and in 2010 he won both the National Balog-Zilcz Competition and the Debrecen University Competition. That same year he won the Brno International Trombone Competition, and in 2016 he was awarded first prize at the Croatian International Brass Competition. In 2013 he and his chamber ensemble, In Medias Brass, won first prize at the Calvin Smith Brass Quintet Competition in Knoxville, USA. In 2015 he won a competition at the Royal Academy of Music with his ensemble, the Budapest Trombone Quartet. Since 2013 he has been the principal trombonist of Concerto Budapest, and he became a member of the Budapest Festival Orchestra in 2016.
