Balázs Szakszon

trombone

Born in 1977 in Budapest, Balázs Szakszon started to learn music at the age of six. Following his elementary studies, he was admitted to the Leó Weiner Musical Secondary School, where his teacher was Péter Foltyn. In 1997 he became student of the prestigious Franz Liszt Music Academy of Budapest, where his professor is Ferenc Steiner. A prize winner at several brass competitions (1993 Prague, 1995 Passau, etc.), he was from 2000 principal trombone player of the MÁV Symphony Orchestra. As of 2002, he is leader of the trombone section of the Budapest Festival Orchestra. In 2003 he won the Sándor Végh Competition of BFO musicians.
