Attila Martos was born in 1969. He attended the Szombathely Conservatory as a student of György Janzsó, and graduated in 1992 from the Liszt Academy as a student of Aladár Pege. He was a founding member of the Orfeo Orchestra in 1991 and joined the Budapest Festival Orchestra in 1992. Between 1995 and 2000 he was also a member of the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra. From 2000 to 2003 he was primarily working in Japan as principal double-bassist of the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa, but he returned to the Festival Orchestra in 2003 where, besides symphony orchestral work, he has performed at chamber concerts and on period instruments at early music performances. In 2012 he founded the Lanner Quartet with his friends, an ensemble that is becoming increasingly well-known to chamber music enthusiasts.
He has been teaching double-bass at the St Stephen Conservatory since 2013.
