Csaba Magyar
double bass
Csaba Magyar was born in 1982 in Kiskunhalas. He started learning the cello at the Balatonfüred Music School. From there, he went on to study the double-bass at the Leó Weiner Conservatory under István Enreiter. Having been a student of Professor Péter Kubina, he graduated from the Liszt Academy in 2010. Parallel to his studies in Budapest, he furthered his expertise by spending 3 years at the Graz University of Music and Performing Arts in the class of Professor Petru Iuga. His orchestral experience came initially from student orchestras (Kodály-Bartók Youth World Orchestra, International Orchestra Institut Attergau), and later as an ancillary at the MÁV Symphony Orchestra, the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hungarian State Opera. He has played tutti in the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra’s double-bass section since 2013. He first contributed to a Budapest Festival Orchestra production in 2010, and has since become a regular.
