Gabriella Liptai

Gabriella Liptai was born in Kecskemét. She started learning the cello at the local Zoltán Kodály Elementary Music School, and won prizes at several national competitions as a student. She was admitted to the preparatory class of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Szeged in 1986, then in 1991 she went on to study at the Academy proper in Budapest under Géza Németh and János Devich. After graduating in 1996, Gabriella spent two years as lead of the cello section in the MÁV Symphony Orchestra, then joined the Budapest Festival Orchestra in 1999.
