László Lévai

László Lévai was born in 1971 in Budapest. He started to learn music at the age of seven, first as a violincellist, later as a double-bass player. He completed his studies in the Béla Bartók Secondary Music School where his professor was István Lukácsházi, later at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music with Péter Kubina. He participated in several master-classes (Klaus Trumpf, Jorma Katrama), in 1997 he won 4th Prize at the Zoltán Tibay International Doublebass Competition. From his young age he played regularly in youth symphony orchestras (Szent István Symphony Orchestra, Ernő Dohnányi Youth Symphony Orchestra, etc.). From 1995 he played regularly in the Hungarian State Symphony Orchestra, from 1997 in the orchestra of the Hungarian State Opera House. Since 1998 Mr.Lévai has been member of the Budapest Festival Orchestra.
