Erika Kovács was born in 1975 in Veszprém, where she attended primary and secondary school. She was admitted to the violin programme of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in 1993, and graduated in 1999 as a student of Mária Zs. Szabó.
She has attended master classes by Dénes Zsigmondy.
Between 1995 and 2015 she was principal and leader of the Danubia Symphony Orchestra.
She has participated in a number of theatre productions, including at the Hungarian National Theatre and the Vígszínház.
Kovács has been working with the Budapest Festival Orchestra since the autumn of 2010, and regularly appears in their chamber music concerts.
