Ágnes Kovács

soprano

Ágnes Kovács soprano was born in Budapest in a musicians’ family. She received a degree in conducting at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, and then graduated as an opera singer at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt in the class of Heidrun Kordes. She has held the Hungarian Eötvös Scholarship twice and has been participating in masterclasses of Anna Reynolds, Walter Moore, Beate Heuer-Christen, Helen Donath, Edith Wiens, Nancy Argenta, Anna Korondi and Jonathan Alder.

She has been working with conductors such as Howard Armann, Ivor Bolton, Iván Fischer, Nicolas McGegan, Thomas Hengelbrock, Helmuth Rilling, Michael Schneider, Steven Sloane and György Vashegyi. She has been singing with Ensembles as the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, NDR Sinfonieorchester, MDR Sinfonieorchester, the Hungarian Radio Simphony Orchestra and the Orfeo Orchestra Budapest. She has been guest at several international festivals such as Musikfest Berlin, Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival, Salzburger Festspiele and Budapest Spring Festival. She cooperates with outstanding chamber musicians like Malcolm Bilson and Hilko Dumno.

In the summer of 2015 she debuted in opera at the Salzburger Festspiele as Second Woman in Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas” conducted by Thomas Hengelbrock. In the Season 2016/17 she sang the role of Giulietta in Bellini’s opera “I Capuleti e i Montecchi” in the Alle-Theater Hamburg.
