Mihály Duffek

bassoon

He was born in Debrecen in 1984. He started to learn to play the bassoon in 1995 at the Emil Simonffy School of Music with József Tóth. Between 1999 and 2003 he was student of the preparatory school of the
Conservatory of the University of Debrecen. In 2003 he was admitted to the Franz Liszt Academy of Music where his teachers were György Lakatos and later György Keszler. He graduated in 2008 and the same year he was admitted to the Doctoral School of the Liszt Academy of Music and the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna. He is a prize winner of several international and Hungarian competitions – last time he won in Chieri, Italy. He had solo concerts in Spain, Germany, the USA and Hungary. He was awarded with the László Hara Prize of the Hungarian Association of Bassoon Players in 2001.
