The time a little boy essentially fell in love with a great big instrument.
Teréz Iván-Vidovics has been visiting our Autism-Friendly Cocoa Concerts for a while with her son, Zsigi, who has Asperger’s syndrome. One time, three of our musicians began playing folk music, dances from Szék. Zsigi was enchanted and listened to them with his mouth agape; in that moment, something changed in him for good. This is the instrument he chose for himself (or, perhaps, it was the instrument that chose him), and he is now in his second year of playing the folk bass at the Óbuda Folk Music School. For children with autism, their personal relationship with the music teacher is incredibly valuable, as is the experience of making music together.
