The Festival Orchestra conquers Istanbul

In 2014 the Budapest Festival Orchestra will also play in Istanbul.
The BFO has launched a tour covering four countries: Iván Fischer and the BFO will give concerts in Antwerp, Innsbruck, Basel and Istanbul. Innsbruck and Antwerp are almost scheduled stations, the orchestra is a regular guest in both cities. Istanbul, however, is a new venue for the BFO, a new and close collaboration begins with the Turkish concert on Thursday. In 2014 Turkish audiences can enjoy four performances by the BFO – as a resident orchestra in the Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall. This tour’s programme includes Russian pieces of music: Polovtsian Dances by Borodin, Piano Concerto No. 3 by Prokofiev and Symphony “Pathétique” by Tchaikovsky. Budapest audiences can enjoy the Festival Orchestra’s performance of the three famous Russian composers’ pieces shortly after the tour on 26 January from 3:30pm and on 27 and 28 January from 7:45pm in the Palace of Arts. For little children, Cocoa Concerts will be held in the BFO Rehearsal Hall on 25 January (Saturday) from 2:30pm and 4:30pm, and for those who live for the night, Midnight Music will be held again in the Millenáris Theatre from 11:30pm.
