“See what you hear!” Film Competition 2015

The makers of the film entitled Troughs – Dalma Magnucz, Dorottya Molnár, Jan Meslany, Kata Nemes, Péter Novák és Donát Molnár – won the top prize of the Budapest Festival Orchestra’s film competition See what you hear! as well as the audience’s award and Telenor Magyarország Kft.’s award.
This time round, secondary school students participating in the competition had to make a short film for a movement of Schumann’s Symphony No. 4 of their choice. The winners were presented their awards at the Gala event at the Budapest Palace of Arts, and could listen to the Festival Orchestra play the entire symphony. The BFO has organised the See what you hear! video competition for secondary school students for four consecutive years now. Contestants were able to upload their videos to the daazo.com website, which were judged by a prestigious jury including members such as film director Kornél Mundruczó, cameraman Marcell Rév, conductor Gábor Takács-Nagy, Daazo.com representative Zsuzsanna Deák and BFO musicians. The professional jury’s “Rolling together” award was given to the makers of the short film entitled Shining: Balázs Molnár and Márk Takáts. Daazo.com’s special award went to the film ‘Compulsory reading’. The makers of the award-winning Troughs film will have the chance to join the Festival Orchestra’s tour abroad in May. As this was the film that received the most votes from the audience, the makers also received the audience’s award: a Youth Season Ticket for each of them for the Festival Orchestra’s concerts in the 2014-2015 season. The makers of the special-award film ‘Breach’, along with the short films ‘Impossible is nothing’, ‘Deus ex machina’ and ‘Natura’, may visit the Korda Filmpark in Etyek as a gift from the Korda Studio, where they will have the chance to gain some insight into professional film-making.
