See what you hear! 2017

See what you hear! 2017

Each year, the Budapest Festival Orchestra holds the “See What You Hear” film competition for secondary school students. Entrants in the competition are asked to produce a short film for a movement of their choice from a given piece of music. The films are then judged by a prestigious jury.

The Budapest Festival Orchestra announces its See what you hear! film competition for the 5th time in the 2015-16 season. This time high-school students can make their short films to Shostakovich's Hamlet suite. Students can apply individually or in groups (of up to 5 people). The genre and technique of the movie is optional, if you're lacking a camera, you can use your mobile phone or a computer animation program.

In 2015, Dalma Magnucz, Dorottya Molnár, Jan Meslany, Kata Nemes, Péter Novák and Donát Molnár won the grand prize as well as the audience’s award and Telenor Magyarország Kft.’s award with their film titled Troughs. The professional jury’s “Rolling together” award was given to the makers of the short film entitled Shining by Balázs Molnár, Márk Takáts and Norbert Fóris while Daazo.com’s special award went to the film Compulsory reading.

Members of this year's jury:
