Presenting the winners of this year’s “See What You Hear!” film competition

Continuing the tradition, the Budapest Festival Orchestra organised a film competition for secondary-school students this year. This time around, the youngsters produced a film for an excerpt of Mozart’s Symphony No. 1. Congratulations to all the participants and special compliments to the students of the ELTE Trefort Ágoston Practice Grammar School and the Szilágyi Erzsébet Secondary School for the absolute winner Kell (Need).

2018 prizes and winners:

The grand prize of the Budapest Festival Orchestra goes to the Kornél group consisting of students of the ELTE Trefort Ágoston Practice Grammar School and the Szilágyi Erzsébet Secondary School for the film titled Kell (Need). The group will have the opportunity to accompany the BFO on its August tour in Ravello.

The professional prize from the jury also goes to the Kornél group of the ELTE Trefort Ágoston Practice Grammar School and the Szilágyi Erzsébet Secondary School for the film titled Kell (Need). The prize is participating at a film shooting led by film director Hajni Kis.

The Dazoo prize has been awarded to the film titled A látogató (The Visitor) made by the Voice Over group of the Zrínyi Ilona Secondary School of Miskolc, which garnered the most (416) votes on dazoo.com. The group will get the chance to invite their friends to the House of Arts in Miskolc for a private viewing of the submitted film as well as a Cirko film of their choice.

Two groups received a split special prize:

  • The Vájtszeműek (Keen Eye) group of students of the Vörösmarty Mihály Secondary School of Érd is invited to visit the Korda Studios for their production of Kis lépés (Small Step).
  • The Keserédes Keseredés (Bittersweet Misery) group of students of the II. Rákóczi Ferenc Secondary School and the ELTE Trefort Ágoston Practice Grammar School will have the opportunity to participate in the live-stream of one of BFO’s concerts for their film titled Alíz (Alice).

Special accolades go to the creators of the following three films:

  • Következő szint (Next level) by the Szeress! (Love!) group of students of the ELTE Trefort Ágoston Practice Grammar School.
  • A szekrény (The wardrobe) by Gergely Vass, student of the Dózsa György Grammar School and Art of Dance Vocational School.
  • Vukovár (Vukovar) by Péter Holló.

Their prizes: 1 Cirko-Gejzír cinema season ticket each.

Posters made for the films were also recognised by the jury (without ranking):

  • The poster for A látogató (The Visitor) by the Voice Over group of the Zrínyi Ilona Secondary School of Miskolc.
  • The poster for A Cigány-zátony szerelmesei (Lovers at the Cigány-zátony) by the Figaro és Családja (Figaro and Family) group of the Radnóti Miklós Specialised Secondary School and Vocational School.
  • The poster for Édes Álom (Sweet Dream) by the Fighters group of the Fazekas Mihály Secondary School of Debrecen.
  • Péter Holló’s poster for Vukovár (Vukovar).
  • The poster for Legbelső (Innermost) by the Polipok (Octopuses) group of the oktOpus Multimedia Institute and Secondary School of Alternative Media Arts and the Kossuth Lajos Secondary School of the 20th district of Budapest.
  • The poster for Szerelmem a tánc (I’m in Love with Dancing) by the LOZSU Team of the Lorántffy Zsuzsanna Calvinist School and Secondary School.

These groups each receive a large box of Mozart chocolate.
