Mozart and Bizet-Shchedrin at the free concert of the Festival Orchestra

The Budapest Festival Orchestra will perform Mozart’s symphony K 199 in G major and Shchedrin’s Carmen Suite, taken from Bizet’s opera, conducted by Gábor Takács-Nagy in the enlarged and modernised Open Air Theatre on Margaret Island at Budapest’s traditional free concert on 19 June – as revealed by Szabad Tér Theatre to news agency MTI.
Tickets to the concert, which will begin at 7pm, may be requested free of charge online until 14 June or until stocks last at www.szabadter.hu, or may be uplifted personally at the Szabad Tér Ticket Office (Budapest, Nagymező u. 68.) and at the ticket offices of the Open Air Theatres on Margaret Island and in Városmajor during office hours. Those who cannot gain admission to the recently renovated auditorium, which has a capacity of 2700, may follow the performance in the Margaret Courtyard (Margit-udvar) surrounding the Water Tower, and in the area opposite the entrance, with the help of screens and speakers. The event on Margaret Island replaced the traditional free concert at Heroes’ Square last year. The concert, together with other events and celebrations, is held in memory of the last Soviet soldier leaving Hungary on this date.   hirado.hu
