Altstaedt&BFO: audience reactions

Many members of our audience take the time to share their thoughts and emotions with us after a particular concert. We are grateful for the feedback, which fills us with joy and inspiration every single time. We have decided to share with you here, some of the reflections we enjoyed reading the most. We received the following reflections following our performance with Nicolas Altstaedt.

“Hearing this beautiful performance was moving. There were times during the concert when I felt my feet were not even touching the ground.”

“This performance, with the brilliant soloist and the professional orchestra, was amazing; they were testing the boundaries.”

“This was my favorite concert of the season. Nicolas Altstaedt is an extraordinary personality. You have to see him conduct and live together with the orchestra.”

“Entertaining, dynamic and engrossing.”

“Nicolas Altstaedt brought new life to the performance. Seeing him play the cello and also serve as conductor was unique. I so enjoyed his playing and the whole arrangement. The audience went wild with joy.”

“The cello concerto was magical, and Nicolas Altstaedt is a mesmerizing personality. I was happy and it was good to be alive, I realized after the performance.”

“It was simply stunning. It elevated me from the worries of reality and took me to a magical world.”

“Each concert is an awe-inspiring experience, and each is a memory to last a lifetime; but this performance by Nicolas Altstaedt and the BFO was like ascension itself. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of this unforgettable miracle.”

“The best concert experiences of my life. Thank you.”

“A fantastic and stunning evening. Incredible pieces. A perfect performance. A virtuoso conductor and an enthusiastic orchestra. Dynamism; joyful music; the deep, sensitive personality of the conductor and the orchestra resonated together.”

“Lots and lots of stars!!! A magical performance and once again an unforgettable experience! Nicolas Altstaedt’s cello playing carries with it such warmth; his music is virtuoso without being self-serving for even a moment - rather, it is sweeping, inspiring and playful, just as his conducting is also emotional and expressive. The orchestra's composition as such was already a good sign: and, sure enough, there were so many tiny gestures one could pick up on which showed that there was constant dialogue between the members of the BFO and the conductor/soloist. They viewed one another as true partners, responding to each other’s spontaneous gestures and ideas. This really was a process of creating music together: glances, smiles and joy throughout! I hope this was only the first of many opportunities to hear them perform together.”
