The Budapest Festival Orchestra is celebrating its 40th birthday this year. Our traditional Christmas performance, the Surprise Concert, will be held on December 26, 2023 at the Budapest Congress Center, and it will be a special, jubilee performance this year. For this celebration of music, the orchestra will share the spotlight with members of our loyal and dedicated audience, with a special role planned for them.
We are planning to include an amateur choir to make music together – to perform a lesser-known piece with orchestral accompaniment. And what will that piece be? That is still a secret.

Rehearsals will be held at: BFO Rehearsal Hall (1034 Budapest, Selmeci u. 14.)
Rehearsal dates: November 14, 21 and 28; December 5 and 12. All rehearsals will be on Tuesdays, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Choir members must attend the rehearsals.
Please note: those singing in the choir must still purchase tickets to the December 26 concert if they would like to attend as a member of the audience in addition to their performance. We have reserved a limited number of tickets for purchase by choir members and their partners. These may be picked up following the last rehearsal, on December 12.
