JÓZSEF BAZSINKA: "THE LIFE OF A TUBA PLAYER RESEMBLES THAT OF A GOALKEEPER"

He's just turned fifty and has been playing in the Budapest Festival Orchestra for twenty years, where he was voted musician of the month in November. József Bazsinka, principal tuba, is celebrating this double anniversary with a special solo concert on 13 December.
- Your fiftieth birthday was the main reason for your celebratory concert, but you have another anniversary this year. - It would appear all my anniversaries are nice round numbers: I worked in the Opera House for exactly ten years before moving to the Festival Orchestra, and I am now in my twentieth year here, which means I have spent precisely thirty years in top-class orchestras. Ten, twenty, thirty, fifty – I wanted to celebrate the anniversaries in a fitting way with a lot of concerts and taking a look back over the last few decades.
