From Okzident to Orient

The next tour of the Festival Orchestra starting today will reach six countries and cover several thousands of kilometres.
Iván Fischer and his ensemble will be travelling to Turin, Brussels, Linz and Ljubljana as well as the Liechtenstein capital of Vaduz and the even more exotic Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, taking with them a rather special concert programme. This is because the concerts featuring the fantastic French oboist Francois Leleux will include La Favorita di Donizetti by Antonio Pasculli (1842-1924), known as the "Paganini of the oboe" in his time, before Liszt's Faust Symphony and Mozart's Oboe Concerto. In Oman József Lendvay will introduce Bartók's 1st violin concerto to the audience.
