Cocoa concerts

The Cocoa Concerts promise a family atmosphere with story-telling and an introduction to music on weekend afternoons this year again, aimed at children between the ages of 5 and 12 and of course their parents and grandparents. Through the Cocoa Concerts, Iván Fischer and the orchestra musicians offer children an informal introduction into the mysteries of classical music, and when the music stops and the applause subsides, the little ones can drink their foamy cocoas in the small dotted mugs.
In the past few decades, representatives of symphony orchestras, opera houses and concert directors have been moderately optimistic about the ages of those attending classical music events. Participants of the music world are deeply interested in educating future audiences. The Budapest Festival Orchestra was among the first to understand this when it launched its Cocoa Concert series, „ages ago” when it was established. The young children back then have now grown up, and many of them still attend the orchestra’s concerts. The recipe is simple: take a musician with excellent communication skills – in our case, musical director Iván Fischer – who knows how to speak to children and introduces the nursery-aged kids and primary school pupils
