Single tickets are available for concerts of the Budapest Festival Orchestra from 2 June, one of the top ten orchestras in the world. It is worth seizing this opportunity as early as possible since there is already significant interest in the concerts. The BFO bore all the different age groups and the interests in various styles in mind when preparing the concert programme. Apart from single tickets, the massive interest means only a limited number of the popular BFO season tickets are still available. Brahms is to play a key role in the BFO’s 2014/2015 season, which starts on 10 September with the Bridging Europe – Európai Hidak festival that premiered successfully last year and will now focus on German culture. Violinist Midori Seiler, conductor Franck Ollu and cellist Sonia Wieder-Atherton will be guest performers, while the exceptionally beautiful Symphony No. 3 and 4 by Brahms will be conducted by Iván Fischer. In October we will be remembering Gustav Mahler. This time “Heavenly Life” could be the motto of the concert, as a reference to both Symphony No. 4 by Mahler and the Four Last Songs by Richard Strauss, which will also be played. One of the season’s highlights will certainly be Iván Fischer’s new opera production, Mozart’s opera entitled The Magic Flute, which has already been invited to the Mostly Mozart Festival in New York in the summer. In addition, the BFO has returned to one of its traditions as requested by its audiences, and will again hold the well-known Surprise Concerts at Christmas. Aside from Iván Fischer, the orchestra will also feature world-famous artists throughout the season such as Pinchas Zukerman, Nuria Rial, David Fray, Roger Muraro, Robin Ticciati, Anna Caterina Antonacci, Christine Schäfer, Tassis Christoyannis, Jonathan Cohen and Mikhail Pletnev.
