The Budapest Festival Orchestra opens its 30th Anniversary concert season on 11st September with Hans Krása’s Brundibár. Iván Fischer, as music director, has been directing the artistic work of the BFO for thirty years. During the past decades the Budapest Festival Orchestra has established itself as one of the ten leading orchestras of the world. Zazzi pasrty shop introduces its BFZ30 cake – which was inspired by the Budapest Festival Orchestra on the day of the opening of the Anniversary season.

Founded in 1983 by Iván Fischer and Zoltán Kocsis, the Budapest Festival Orchestra has established itself as one of the ten leading orchestras of the world. It is loved by audiences and praised by international critics for its intensive and emotionally gripping performances. On 11 September, the Budapest Festival Orchestra opens its 30th Anniversary season and the Bridging Europe – Európai hidak festival with Hans Krása’s children’s opera, Brundibár. During the season BFO is really going to set the fireworks off. With guest performers Garrick Ohlsson, Maria Joao Pires, Mikhail Pletnev, Leonidas Kavakos and Pinchas Zuckerman, the orchestra will be presenting a “who is who” of live classical music in Budapest.

Zazzi pastry shop, which was founded in 2005 in Solymár and moved to Óbuda (district 3 of Budapest) this year, created a brand new cake called BFO30. The founders of Zazzi, Dr. Melinda Erdős and Margit Varga are long-time regulars at orchestra’s concerts: this special piece was inspired by the 30^th anniversary of the BFO, one of the top 10 orchestras in the world.

“Unique, both tart and sweet, comforting and exhilarating; just like the orchestra” said Dr. Melinda Erdős. According to Margit Varga, the peculiar, intense flavour of the cake was inspired by the innovative spirit and the unique, unmistakable sound of the orchestra.

The BFO is one of the greatest cultural successes of Hungary over the last thirty years. The founders of Zazzi, hope that their BFO30 cake will be one of the delights of the Anniversary season along with the concert programme that reflects the experimental spirit of the orchestra and features global stars.

Besides its constant renewal, the orchestra has also maintained its original beliefs; every concert is a celebration. “This, for us, is what the BFO30 cake represents” said Orsolya Erdődy, deputy executive director of the Budapest Festival Orchestra.
