What’s the most coffee you’ve ever had in a single day?
About 10 espressos, but I was so crazy about coffee that I haven’t had a single sip since 2011! Now I drink tea.
What was the longest piece you’ve ever conducted?
Mozart’s Don Giovanni or The Marriage of Figaro (perhaps Figaro is longer).
What’s the farthest place in the world where you’ve performed?
Christchurch, New Zealand, with the Takács Quartet in 1985 and 1988.
What’s the longest you’ve ever stayed awake at a stretch?
24 hours!
What’s the most exotic place in the world where you’ve performed?
Bariloche, in the Argentine mountains.
