LÁSZLÓ LAJTHA FOUNDATION

Violoncellist Péter Szabó received this year’s award by the László Lajtha Foundation Curatorium
Curatorium member Csilla Gyurkó presented the Budapest Festival Orchestra’s solo cellist with an award for his excellent rendering of László Lajtha’s compositions. According to the foundation, the Liszt-Award winning musician was instrumental in introducing Lajtha’s pieces to audiences both in Hungary and abroad over the past 20 years; in 2011 he delivered a wonderful performance of Trio Concertante at Wigmore Hall in London. The aim of the László Lajtha Foundation, established in 1983, is to promote the recognition of the excellent Hungarian composer and folk music researcher. Last year, the curatorium’s award was given to singer, musician and folk music researcher Ferenc Sebő.
