About the event
What would Don Juan do if he lived among us today? Would he charm us once again and wrap us around his little finger, or would his magic fail him, leaving even the Stone Guest untouched.
Don Juan is eternal, impossible to grow tired of. For centuries, writers, composers, and philosophers have revisited his character – even as we remain captivated, and probably will do until the end of time. His story is profoundly human, with tragedy and comedy inseparably intertwined, as we discover in the Mozart opera bearing his name.
Would the modern age reject Don Juan or do we need him now more than ever? These are the questions to be explored by the writer Borbála Szabó and the writer and literary historian Pál Nényei, with the help of four brilliant actors and a remarkable musician, they summon up the spectre of Don Juan and the melodies of Mozart’s Don Giovanni through a series of contemporary scenes.
