Dávid Szigetvári

Hungarian lyric tenor Dávid Szigetvári studied at the Liszt-Ferenc-University of Music (Budapest). He was awarded a Special Prize at the First Antonio-Cesti-Competition for Baroque Opera in Innsbruck in 2010, and followed this with First Prize at the XVIIIth International Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Competition in Leipzig, 2012.
The press praise his "fresh, exquisitely colored voice" (OperaNews).
His 2012 german debut in Bach’s St Matthew Passion was described by the Stuttgarter Zeitung as "sensational", pointing out his "spectacular creative power".
He has had a longstanding artistic relationship with the Orfeo Chamber Orchestra Budapest; the Savaria Baroque Orchestra; the Belgian ensemble Scherzi Musicali; and the french ensemble Akadêmia. He took part in world premiere recordings with these ensembles, presenting music by Caldara and Mazzocchi. He had concerts also with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, Ensemble Vox Luminis, Lautten Compagney Berlin.
Concerts and opera performances have taken him to the Schleswig-Holstein-Festival; the Musikfestspiele Sanssouci (Potsdam); the Tage Alter Musik (Herne); Bachtage (Würzburg); Bachfest (Leipzig), Festwochen der Alten Musik (Innsbruck), Festival de la Chaise-Dieu, Festival de Saintes; to London, Paris, Rotterdam, Aix en Provence, Wroclaw, Vienna Konzerthaus to New Delhi.
He sang the title role in Monteverdi’s Orfeo in Landestheater Passau, Sebalduskirche Nürnberg, Cité de la Musique (Paris), Opéra de Reims, Arsenal (Metz), appeared at the opera house in Lille and Lisbon as Teseo in Francesco Cavalli's Elena. At the Budapest State Opera he sang a staged production of St Matthew Passion, the role of Ferrando in Mozart's Così fan tutte, Sellem in The Rake’s Progress by Stravinsky, and Aquilio in Vivaldi’s Farnace.
At the begining of 2016 he sang Die Schöpfung by Haydn with the Austro-Hungarian Haydn Orchestra under Adam Fischer and again in 2017 under Nicolas Altstaedt.
