
Dorottya Láng

During the 2023/24 season she thrilled audiences with her interpretation of Judit in Bartók's Bluebeard's Castle (a role which she has become known for) at the Norwegian Opera in Oslo in her debut in that house and as Waltraute in Wagner's Götterdämmerung at MÜPA Budapest (Adam Fischer). She has also sung Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder (Leopold Hager) in Stockholm, Bluebeard's Castle at the Philharmonie Berlin (Adam Fischer), Wagner's Rienzi at MÜPA Budapest (Marc Albrecht) and Die Frau ohne Schatten at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra (Kirill Petrenko).
She has worked with many renowned orchestras such as the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra, Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the RSO Vienna, with conductors such as Thomas Dausgaard, Leopold Hager, Eliahu Inbal, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Cornelius Meister, Ingo Metzmacher, Kent Nagano, Steven Sloane, Markus Stenz and Theodor Currentzis and the directors Romeo Castellucci, Willy Decker, Stefan Herheim and Hans Schüler, to name just a few.
After being a member of the ensemble at the Hamburg State Opera, among others, she is now a freelance guest on international stages. Her repertoire includes roles such as Cenerentola in La Cenerentola (Rossini), Marguerite in La Damnation de Faust (Berlioz), Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel (Humperdinck), Adriano in Rienzi (Richard Wagner), Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier (Strauss), Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini) and Dorabella in Così fan tutte (Mozart). Dorottya Láng is also an acclaimed recitalist, and has performed lieder at the Wigmore Hall, the Schubertiade, the Vienna Konzerthaus, Oxford Lieder Festival, among many other festivals.
