Gordon Fantini

Gordon Fantini is Solo Bassoon, Section Leader at the Belgian National Orchestra Bruxelles. He perfections his studies with Sergio Azzolini (his ambassador in Classeek), Carlo Colombo.

Having won the prize of the Sándor Végh Competition (president of jury I. Fischer) in Budapest in 2019, he will perform as soloist with the Budapest Festival Orchestra in October 2020.

He has been invited as a principal to Teatro la Fenice, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Filarmonica A. Toscanini, Malaysian Philarmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of Europe (Zurich).

Now at the age of 30, Gordon has collaborated with many orchestras in Switzerland such as VFCO, Orchestre Suisse Romande (taking part in a CD with J. Nott) , Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne and KammerOrchester Basel.

He is also participating in various Swiss festivals: Gstaad Menuhin Festival, Sion Festival playing in the “Feast of Duos” show with the musical comedy duo Igudesman & Joo and Ray Chen.

Gordon was successful in auditions playing as substitute in Teatro alla Scala (Milan), Orchestre de la Suisse Romande (Geneva).

In 2014 he also won a trial for the position of solo bassoon at the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (London) where he performed on tour in the UK.

As a soloist, Gordon has performed many times and in 2012 the “Sunday Times” of Sri Lanka writes about him : “His mastery of the instrument was truly on display in this performance, as he showed us how wrong we are to suppose that the Bassoon is just a continuo instrument, which it was, till Vivaldi took it in hand.”

In 2019 he found the Trami Duo with pianist Sinforosa Petralia.

He is conducted by the most known conductors in the world.
