Anna Vinnitskaya

piano

Whoever witnesses Anna Vinnitskaya in concert is inevitably enthralled by the aura of this artist. Audiences and critics alike celebrate her ability to paint grand canvases, aside from sparking spectacular fireworks. Her technical splendor is never a virtuoso end in itself, but always a means of expression, and blends with a natural, always colorful sound. Anna Vinnitskaya is a major pianist of our time who tells stories with her music.

The first prize at the Concours Reine Elisabeth in Brussels in 2007 marked the beginning of Anna Vinnitskaya’s international career. Today she is a valued partner of many major orchestras worldwide and leading conductors such as Andris Nelsons, Valery Gergiev, Krzysztof Urbański, Dmitri Kitajenko, Alan Gilbert and Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla. A highlight of the 2021/22 season is her renewed collaboration with Kirill Petrenko and the Berliner Philharmoniker. As part of their joint concert tour, Anna Vinnitskaya makes her debut at the Salzburg Festival and returns to the LUCERNE Festival and the Philharmonie de Paris.

Anna Vinnitskaya’s debuts with the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France led to immediate re-invitations. Recently, she has been resident artist with the Philharmonie Dresden at the invitation of Marek Janowski, the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne and the Frankfurt Museumsorchester where she performed in a series of solo, chamber and orchestral concerts. In 2020/21, BOZAR Brussels dedicated her an Artist Portrait. Invitations to the recital series of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic, to the Konzerthaus Vienna, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, and major venues in Cologne, Essen, Dortmund, Stuttgart, Munich and Hamburg, among others, underline her excellence and outstanding reputation.

Anna Vinnitskaya is also a passionate chamber musician. With violinist Emmanuel Tjeknavorian and cellist Daniel Müller-Schott, she can be heard performing works by Debussy, Tchaikovsky, Brahms and Schubert in piano trio in the 2021/22 season.

CD recordings by Anna Vinnitskaya have won numerous awards such as the Diapason d’Or and the Gramophone Editor’s Choice. At the beginning of 2021, she presented an album of Frédéric Chopin’s Ballades and Impromptus, which has been received with continuing critical enthusiasm. Previous releases include a Rachmaninov album with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester and Krzysztof Urbański, and a recording of Bach’s piano concertos together with Evgeni Koroliov, Lyupka Hadzi Georgieva, and the Kammerakademie Potsdam (Alpha Classics/Outhere Music).

Anna Vinnitskaya was born in Novorossiysk, Russia. She studied with Sergei Osipienko in Rostov and then with Evgeni Koroliov at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, where she herself has been a professor since 2009.
