PERFORMERS OF THE MUSIC ACADEMY’S CONCERT CENTRE

The Concert Centre, which will open in the 106-year-old building in October, clearly aims to be the next palace of classical, jazz and folk music. To this end, it features the best musicians from Hungary in the grand concert hall built in secessionist style, as well as in the jewel-like small concert hall, boosted with a rope attic and an orchestra pit. EXCERPT FROM THE MUSIC ACADEMY’S PRESS RELEASE: The ‘The colours of black-and-white’  series will be opened by Dezső Ránki, Edit Klukon and young Fülöp Ránki on 27 October, with pieces of music on the programme from J. S. Bach, Couperin, Liszt and Barnabás Dukay who works closely with the Ránki family. While permanently offering concerts at the Music Academy, the Budapest Festival Orchestra will bring a truly world-famous artist, Martha Argerich from Argentina, to the Grand Concert Hall on 7, 8, 9 and 10 November. On 17 November, outstanding Hungarian pianists (with traditions that can be traced back to Liszt), namely Tamás Vásáry, Kálmán Dráfi and Gergely Bogányi, will be on stage at the evening event entitled Pianist Generations, along with the next generation of pianists represented by Ivett Gyöngyösi, László Váradi and Zsolt Medgyesi.
