Due to the illness of Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Bartók Béla’s Piano Concerto No. 1 will be performed by Dezső Ránki

The Budapest Festival Orchestra regrets to announce that Pierre-Laurent Aimard, the renowned French pianist, has been forced to cancel his guest appearances at the concerts on 10, 11 and 12 May due to illness.
In his place, however, we are delighted to welcome Dezső Ránki, who will therefore play Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 1 at the concerts. Alongside Bartók’s piano concerto, the programme for this weekend’s concerts includes Kalevi Aho’s “Minea” composition for orchestra and Sergei Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet balett music, while the baton-holder will be the world-famous Finnish conductor Osmo Vänskä.
